Frequently asked

Application guidelines, drying time and care instructions for Special (CW) Primer.

What is Snowcem Special (CW) Primer and where can it be used?

Snowcem Special (CW) Primer is an acrylic co-polymer emulsion-based exterior primer designed for undercoating both concrete and wooden surfaces. It provides excellent opacity, alkali resistance, and topcoat adhesion while preventing topcoat peeling.

What is the mixing and dilution ratio for Snowcem Special (CW) Primer?

Dilution depends on the surface substrate: • Concrete Surfaces: Dilute 1 liter of primer with 500 ml of clean potable water. • Wooden Surfaces: Dilute 1 liter of primer with 200 ml of clean potable water. Note: Do not over-dilute, use thinners, or add colorants/stainers. Thinned paint must be used within 24 hours.

What is the coverage area and what pack sizes are available?

On smooth, non-porous surfaces, it offers an approximate coverage of 90 to 110 sq. ft. per liter per coat. Available pack sizes are 1 L, 4 L, 10 L, and 20 L containers.

What is the drying time and recoating period?

It becomes touch dry in 30 minutes, with a hard dry time of 4 to 6 hours. The recommended recoating period is 4 to 6 hours.

What is the step-by-step application process?

Step 1: Sand the surface using 180 emery paper and wipe clean. Step 2: Apply 1 coat of Snowcem Special (CW) Primer and let it dry for 4–6 hours. Step 3: Apply Snowcare Wall Putty (overnight drying). Step 4: Apply a 2nd coat of Snowcem Special (CW) Primer and allow 4–6 hours drying time. Step 5: Apply 2 coats of topcoat exterior emulsion paint.

How should masonry surfaces be prepared before applying the primer?

Fresh masonry must cure completely for at least 28 days. Clean dust, oil, and loose particles thoroughly. For fungal or algal growth, wash with Snowcem Bio-Wash prior to priming. Fill cracks up to 3mm using Snowcare Wall Putty or a 1:3 mix of White Cement and fine sand.

Is Snowcem Special (CW) Primer eco-friendly and safe?

Yes, it satisfies GRIHA / LEED Green Building parameters. It has low VOC levels (< 40 g/L / 13%) and is free from lead, mercury, chromium (VI), cadmium, formaldehyde, benzene, and phenolic compounds.

What is the shelf life of this primer?

It has a shelf life of 3 years when stored in airtight containers in a cool, dry place.
