Frequently asked

Application guidelines, drying time and care instructions for Pentasia Dust Guard.

What is Pentasia Dust Guard and where can it be applied?

Pentasia Dust Guard is a premium exterior emulsion paint made with a high-quality acrylic emulsion and advanced additives. It is used on exterior cement and concrete walls to give a rich sheen finish while helping the surface resist dust build-up, chalking, flaking and algae, so the walls keep their appearance over time.

What is the recommended mixing ratio for Pentasia Dust Guard?

Add 400 ml of clean potable water to 1 litre of Pentasia Dust Guard (40% water by volume) for easy brushability. Do not over-dilute, and never add thinners or universal stainers, as over-dilution can cause shade variation.

What is the coverage and what pack sizes are available?

Coverage is about 110 to 120 sq. ft. per litre for one coat, and 60 to 80 sq. ft. per litre for two coats. Actual coverage depends on how porous and textured the wall is, so a small trial patch is a good idea on very rough surfaces. Pack sizes are 1 L, 4 L, 10 L, and 20 L.

What are the drying time and recoating period?

The paint is dry to touch in about 30 minutes. Wait 4 to 6 hours between coats.

What is the complete step-by-step application process?

Step 1: Apply Snowcem Wall Putty (optional) with a trowel and allow it to dry overnight. Step 2: Apply 1 coat of Snowcare Sealer & Primer or Snowcem Universal Primer. Step 3: Apply the 1st coat of diluted Pentasia Dust Guard by brush, roller or spray, and allow 4 to 6 hours drying. Step 4: Apply the 2nd coat of diluted Pentasia Dust Guard and allow 4 to 6 hours drying.

How should the surface be prepared before painting?

New plaster must cure for at least 28 days. Remove loose paint, dust and grease, and scrub off any fungus, algae or moss with a wire brush. Fill cracks up to 3 mm, holes and dents with Snowcare Wall Putty, or a 1:3 mix of white cement and fine sand. On old or powdery surfaces, apply a coat of Snowsol stabilising solution before the topcoat.

How many shades are available for Pentasia Dust Guard?

It is available in a wide range of shades from the Snowcem Paints Colour Spectra.

Is Pentasia Dust Guard safe and environmentally friendly?

Yes. It contains less than 40 g/L VOCs and qualifies for GRIHA and LEED green building criteria. It is free from lead, chromium (VI), cadmium and mercury, and does not contain harmful compounds such as formaldehyde, phenolic compounds or benzene.

What are the technical details and shelf life?

The paint is a thixotropic acrylic emulsion, applied by brush, roller or spray, with a dry film thickness of 50 to 60 microns and a sheen level of 6 to 9 units at 60° on a white shade. Store it in a cool, dry place away from extreme weather; shelf life is 3 years.
