Application guidelines, drying time and care instructions for Sandtex Matt.

What is Sandtex Matt Superior Textured Finish Exterior Emulsion Paint and where is it applied?

Sandtex Matt is a special acrylic co-polymer exterior emulsion formulated for external walls. It provides a fine textured matt finish with extra film thickness (90–120 microns DFT) to bridge hairline cracks and protect walls from UV radiation, high humidity, coastal conditions, rain, and industrial pollution. It offers a 9-year warranty.

What is the recommended mixing ratio for Sandtex Matt?

Mix 4 parts of Sandtex Matt Exterior Emulsion Paint with 1 part of clean potable water by volume (4:1 ratio) for easy brushability. Do not over-dilute, use thinners, or add universal stainers.

What is the coverage capacity and what pack sizes are available?

Sandtex Matt provides an approximate coverage of 90 to 100 sq. ft. per liter per coat depending on surface texture and porosity. Container sizes available are 1 L, 4 L, 10 L, and 20 L.

What are the drying times for Sandtex Matt?

Touch dry time is 30 to 35 minutes. The recommended recoating interval between coats is 4 to 6 hours.

What is the complete step-by-step application procedure?

Step 1: Apply Snowcare Wall Putty (optional) using a trowel and allow overnight drying. Step 2: Apply 1 coat of Snowcem Special CW Primer (or a base coat of Snowcem Plus Waterproof Cement Paint) and allow 4 hours drying time. Step 3: Apply the 1st coat of diluted Sandtex Matt Exterior Emulsion Paint (allow 4–6 hours drying time). Step 4: Apply the 2nd coat of diluted Sandtex Matt Exterior Emulsion Paint (allow 4–6 hours drying time). Note: Application of primer is mandatory, and horizontal surfaces (top of windows, edges) require 3 coats for greater protection.

How should masonry surfaces be prepared before applying Sandtex Matt?

Fresh masonry must cure for at least 28 days. Clean off all loose paint, dust, oil, grease, or fungal growth using wire brushing and water. For old, friable, or difficult surfaces, a coat of Snowsol Stabilising Solution is recommended. Fill cracks up to 3mm using Snowcare Wall Putty or a 1:3 mix of White Cement and fine sand.

Is Sandtex Matt eco-friendly and safe?

Yes, it qualifies for GRIHA and LEED Green Building criteria. It contains low VOC levels (< 40 g/L / 13%) and is completely free from lead, mercury, chromium (VI), cadmium, formaldehyde, benzene, and phenolic compounds.

What is the shelf life and post-painting care?
