What is Sandtex Matt Floor Coat Emulsion and where can it be applied?
Sandtex Matt Floor Coat Emulsion is a water-based, cross-linking acrylic emulsion paint formulated with quartz aggregates for anti-skid properties ("GET-GRIP/DON'T-SLIP"). It provides protection, adhesion, flexibility, and abrasion resistance for concrete floorings, cement floors, sports courts, and walkway surfaces.
What are the recommended dilution and application steps for Sandtex Matt Floor Coat Emulsion?
Step 1 (Self Priming Coat): Mix 1 liter of paint with 300 ml of clean water (30% dilution) and apply by brush only (allow 4–6 hours drying time). Step 2 (Topcoat 1): Mix 1 liter of paint with 100 ml of clean water (10% dilution) and apply by brush only (allow 4–6 hours drying time). Step 3 (Topcoat 2): Mix 1 liter of paint with 100 ml of clean water (10% dilution) and apply by brush only (allow 4–6 hours drying time).
What is the coverage area and what pack sizes are available?
Coverage for a single coat is approximately 45 to 65 sq. ft. per liter depending on surface texture and porosity. Container sizes available are 1 L and 4 L only.
What are the drying times and film thickness?
Touch dry time is 30 to 45 minutes, with a recommended recoating interval of 4 to 6 hours. Total dry film thickness (DFT) across 3 coats ranges from 120 to 180 microns.
What surface preparation is required prior to application?
• Fresh Concrete/Masonry: Must be cured completely for at least 28 days. • Cleaning: Surfaces must be dry (moisture < 10%) and free of wax, oil, dirt, or moss. Wash fungal/algal areas with Snowcem Biowash. • Repainting: Check adhesion of existing paint; sand glossy surfaces or completely remove damaged prior coats.
Can this product be used on sports courts?
Yes, it is suitable for sports courts as an anti-skid paint. The court level should be above ground level to prevent standing water, cracks must be pre-filled, and sports shoes should be worn for optimal performance.
What color choices are available?
It is available in 38 factory-made standard shades, along with custom exterior-durable shades upon request (subject to minimum batch size).
Is Sandtex Matt Floor Coat Emulsion eco-friendly and safe?
Yes, it satisfies GRIHA and LEED Green Building criteria. It contains low VOC levels (< 40 g/L / 13%) and is completely free from lead, mercury, chromium (VI), cadmium, formaldehyde, benzene, and phenolic compounds.
What is the shelf life of this product?
It has a shelf life of 3 years when stored in airtight containers in a cool, dry location.
